Learn To Surf The Waves

Everyday we deal with some kind of issue. Big or small they can cause us stress. Sometimes it's something that can be dealt with in a few minutes and others can take days or even longer. All the while causing us to stress, worry, fear and sometimes even become sick. But we don't have to live that way.

We can't control most of the issues that are thrown our way before they come. Some we can't even control when they get here, but we CAN control the way we handle them and how we respond to them. I once was given a very powerful analogy that has stuck with me and helped me along my way.

Imagine yourself in a wave pool or the ocean (whichever you prefer). When a wave comes at you, you have 2 choices. You can either fight against it which causes you to get wore out, tired and sometimes even hurt. Or you can choose to ride out the wave. Allowing the wave to lift your body up and over to the other side. Riding out the wave rather than fighting against it reduces your stress, leaves you less tired and sometimes provides you with some enjoyment.

With that being said think of the issues that are coming against you as waves. Would you rather ride the wave or fight against it? I know with certain issues it's not easy to ride the wave and it's ok if you fall off your board. Just get back on and try again. You can't become an expert at something without falling. Eventually you will become a pro and you will be able to ride out those waves and reduce your stress. If it helps during times of stress to visualize yourself riding out the wave then go for it. Take sometime to close your eyes and ride it out (just don't do it when your driving or operating heavy machinery, I won't be held responsible).

Praying that this helps you when the waves rise up.

Blessings~
